Whether we are Swiss, Ukrainian or from any other country, we share universal values that can be shown and transmitted through art.
The idea of this project is to set up workshops in two neighborhoods in the Lausanne region and to allow anyone interested to learn more about Swiss and Ukrainian cultures through creative activities.
This project also consists of offering the possibility to Ukrainian refugees and the Swiss people to learn more about each other, to discover national customs and stories as well as cultural values.
It contributes to the formation of friendly relations between people and thus an integration based on the principles of tolerance and mutual respect.
This project helps Ukrainians and enhances their talents and know-how through creative activities, while helping to open the door to a professional activity for them.
We offer three consecutive workshops:
1) Taste the culture. Cook a traditional Ukrainian dish and a Swiss dish together. Two master chefs explain and demonstrate how to prepare the dishes. Participants help prepare and taste the dishes in a moment of conviviality and sharing. The preparation of dishes will be accompanied by the disclosure of information on the region of origin of the dish, as well as on how to taste it.
2) Land of crafts. Learn and make traditional Swiss and Ukrainian crafts together. Two masters will show participants how to make a Ukrainian and Swiss DIY/craft. Participants learn the traditions and stories of the regions where these artisans come from.
3) (Ra) tell me about it. Two stories will be read to the group of participants by two facilitators: a Ukrainian and a Swiss. Storytellers trigger discussion about the similarities and differences between stories, as well as the common values they convey. At the end of the workshops, participants will be asked to draw an illustration corresponding to the tale of their choice.
